Family Night
Family Night is an intergenerational time of fun, learning and sharing for the whole family. It includes dinner, a lesson or bible story and crafts and activities. Family Night meets onece a month September through April and is open to all parishioners and non- parishioners too, but especially families. Seasonal Education/Formation Opportunities
St. John’s offers various opportunities for religious education and spiritual formation, particularly in the seasons of Advent and Lent.
Confirmation/ Reception Classes
The bishop visits St. John’s every other year. His next visit will be in February 2011. Classes for those desiring to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation or to be received into the Episcopal Church begin approximately three months prior to the bishop’s visit. The topics covered include: Basics of the Christian Faith, Holy Scripture, Worship and the Book of Common Prayer, The History and Polity of the Anglican Communion and The Episcopal Church, Christian Service Component.
Infant Baptism Preparation Class
Parents who wish to present a child to receive the Sacrament of Holy Baptism must attend a Baptismal Preparation Class with the parish priest. The class will include an overview of the theology of Baptism and will address such issues as why we baptize infants and children, the role of parents and god parents and the Baptismal Covenant.
Marriage Preparation
Couples who wish to be married at St. John’s must attend Marriage Preparation Class with the parish priest. The class will include an overview of the theology of Holy Matrimony, discussion what a Christian marriage means as well as the opportunity for the couple to explore their relationship in the light of God’s Word.
